Albion Roads Mapper is a web-based, interactive tool designed for Albion Online players to chart, navigate, and share paths through the Roads of Avalon in real time. It allows players and scouts to map out interconnecting portals, track portal size capacities (e.g., 2-man, 7-man, 20-man), monitor live portal countdown timers, and share route maps with party or guild members.
Is Albion Roads Mapper safe to use and compliant with Albion Online’s Terms of Service (TOS)?
Yes, 100%. Albion Roads Mapper is a completely manual mapping tool. It does not read memory, hook into the Albion Online game client, inspect network packets, or automate gameplay. Because all data is entered manually by the user, it is fully compliant with Sandbox Interactive’s Terms of Service.
Is Albion Roads Mapper free to use?
Yes. The core functionality of Albion Roads Mapper is completely free for all players. You can create maps, add connections, track timers, and share live maps without paying anything. Optional premium plans are available for players and guilds who want persistent map links, extended map duration, additional maps, as well as additional node information.
Do I need an account to start mapping?
No account is required to start mapping. You can open albionroadsmapper.com/map/ and immediately begin building or viewing routes. However, creating a free account allows you to save maps for longer duration, easier access across different devices, and manage your saved map link in your Account Dashboard.
How does Albion Roads Mapper help solo players and guilds?
For Solo Players: Plan chest or trade routes, track safe escape options back to Royal Cities, and bookmark valuable resource nodes or dungeons before heading deeper into Avalon.
For Guilds & Groups: Provide a single source of truth for mass transport runs, black zone shortcut scouting, and group PvP engagements—ensuring everyone sees live timers and location updates in real time.
Can I use Albion Roads Mapper on mobile devices or tablets?
Yes. The mapper is built with a responsive web design that functions seamlessly on desktop PC web browsers, dual-monitor setups, tablets, and smartphones. However, it is primarily optimized for Desktop usage. Many players use a mobile phone or second monitor next to their gaming setup to update portal nodes while scouting in-game.
How long do mapped routes stay active before expiring?
To keep information accurate and optimize server performance, temporary guest maps automatically expire after 4 days of inactivity. To keep your routes saved longer, log in with an account. Premium users gain access to permanent map links.
What is the difference between a View-Only Link and an Editor Link?
View-Only Link: Allows party or guild members to view live updates, zone tiers, and remaining portal timers in real time without the ability to edit or accidentally erase nodes.
Editor Link: Grants permission to designated scouts or officers to add new zones, edit portal timers, and change portal capacities.
Does Albion Roads Mapper automatically detect my location in-game?
No. To maintain complete safety and compliance with Albion Online rules, the mapper does not track your character automatically. You or your guild scouts manually add zone names and portal connections as you explore the Roads.
What extra features come with an Albion Roads Mapper account subscription?
An optional subscription offers additional features tailored for active mappers and large alliances, including: Extended and permanent map links; Advanced map history and organization tools; Priority real-time syncing during high-traffic server hours; Expanded team map management options.
Why aren't all features included in the free version?

How do I add a new Avalonian zone or connection to the map?
Open the interactive map interface. Click + Add Node or right click the map and select "Add Node". Type or select the name of the connected zone (e.g., Rest zones, Hideout roads, Outlands connections). Connect the nodes and adjust their positions to mirror your in-game visual layout or preferences.
How can I see a map of what each zone has?
By double clicking on Avalon nodes, you can see a community provided map showing what resources and points of interest are available in that zone.
How do I track portal capacities (7-man vs 20-man)?
When connecting two nodes, you can select the portal size capacity badge: Blue (7-Man / Small Group): Medium group capacity. Gold (20-Man / Large Raid): High capacity for mass movements and transport caravans.
How do live portal timers work on the mapper?
When you enter a portal in Albion Online, check its remaining lifetime in-game (e.g., 23 hours, 4 hours, or 30 minutes) and input it into the connection settings. The mapper runs a live, second-by-second countdown timer that stays synchronized across all users viewing the map. Timers are universal so sharing maps with players in different timezones, will show an accurate timer for all viewers.
What happens when a portal connection expires?
Instead of immediately deleting the node, the mapper marks expired connections with a distinct visual indicator (red dashed path lines). This preserves your map structure for reference while warning your group that the path is no longer accessible.
How do I add custom location notes and color markers to a zone?
Click on any node to open its details panel. Here, you can add custom text notes (e.g., "Enemy gankers near west exit", "Tier 8 Hideout zone", "Active Gold Chest") and assign custom marker colors for easy visual categorizing.
What is the City Distances feature and how does it help transport runs?
The City Distances tool calculates and displays the number of zones between any mapped node and major Royal Cities (Bridgewatch, Martlock, Lymhurst, Fort Sterling, Thetford, and Caerleon). This distance counter is only displayed for Royal and Outlands nodes. This helps traders and gatherers quickly identify fast transport routes out of the Black Zone.
Note: City Distance is a premium feature and is not available for standard maps.
What do the node tier badges (T4, T6, T8) mean?
Node badges indicate the Tier level (e.g., T4, T6, T8) and classification of the Avalonian zone (such as Rest, Hideout, Deep Roads, Royal Continent exit, or Outlands exit). This gives players instant context on zone danger levels and potential gathering tiers.
Can I import or export map layouts using JSON?
No, there is not a way to import or export map layouts using JSON at this time. However, you can access a shared link to import an existing map and update it from there by stopping the sharing and creating your own unique share link. This will create a new map with all the same nodes from the previous map you were viewing.
How do I delete or disconnect a zone from the map?
Select the zone node or connection line you wish to modify and click the Delete/Remove option in the node editing menu (or use hotkey shortcut 'Del'). Disconnecting a node updates the shared map instantly for all connected viewers.
Which types of Albion Online zones can I track in the mapper?
You can map all zone types connected through Avalonian portals, including: Avalonian Rest Areas & Deep Roads; Guild Hideout Roads; Royal Continent Exits (Blue, Yellow, Red Zones); Outlands Exits (Black Zones). You may also add your own Custom nodes for personalized tracking.

How does real-time live synchronization work?
Albion Roads Mapper utilizes WebSocket technology. When a scout updates a portal timer, adds a node, or posts a note on an Editor link, the changes update instantly across all active browsers viewing or editing that map without needing to refresh the page.
What is the recommended scouting workflow for Roads content?
The lead scout opens a new map room and generates an Editor Link for themselves and a View-Only Link for the raid chat. As the scout enters new portals, they add destination zones, set portal capacities (7-man / 20-man), and set portal time remaining. The scout adds notes regarding enemy scout locations, chests, or dungeons. The caller and group follow the live map link on a second screen to navigate efficiently without relying on text callouts in chat.
How do I protect our guild's live map from griefers or unauthorized edits?
Always keep your Editor Link restricted to trusted scouts, officers, or raid callers. Distribute the View-Only Link to general guild members or alliance chat. This prevents accidental deletions, false portal timers, or map tampering. If your live map link is compromised, create a new share link immediately.
How can transport players use Albion Roads Mapper for safe trade routes?
Before moving valuable gear or materials across the Black or Red Zone, transporters can use the mapper to: Verify that portal capacities are open for heavy transport mounts; calculate the fewest zone transitions to Caerleon or Royal Cities using the City Distances feature; monitor portal expiration timers to ensure they don't get trapped in Avalon mid-run.
What happens if two scouts edit the same node at the same time?
The mapper processes changes live. If two scouts edit the same node simultaneously, the most recent update will overwrite the prior edit and sync to all connected devices.
How do I organize and access my saved maps?
When logged in, visit your Account Dashboard / "Your Maps" tab. From there, you can load previous map layouts, rename maps for specific events, copy current share links or reset old links to revoke public access, and delete obsolete map sessions.
Note: Some features are only available for premium users.
Why did a mapped portal turn red or flag as expired?
Portals automatically transition to an expired state when their countdown timer reaches 00m. If a scout sets a portal life for 1 hour, the mapper counts down to zero and visually flags the connection so players don't waste time running toward closed portals. A mapped connection may show expired and the connection persists if the time entered was inaccurate compared to the in-game timer.
How do I share an Albion Roads Mapper link in Discord or game chat?
Click the Share button on the menu bar, select whether you want to copy a View-Only or Editor link, and paste the generated URL directly into Discord channels, guild MOTDs, or party chat. For guest maps, be sure to save your Editor and View Only links somewhere for future access. Share links for logged in users can be accessed via the Account Dashboard.

Where are my maps stored?
Your maps are stored under your Account Dashboard and can be accessed from the dashboard or from the mapper interface directly.
I made a change to my map, but came back later and it wasn't there. How come?
Logged in users still have to select the active map they'd like to update if they want their changes saved. We still allow logged in users to only store their data locally by not using an active map which can cause confusion if a user forgets to select their active map to update.
What do I get with Albion Roads Mapper premium?
With premium you gain access to permanent map share links as well as up to 5 unique (permanent) maps. You'll also have access to any additional premium features we roll out in the future while you have an active subscription.
